Coach Brad is a graduate of Montour High School where he ran hurdles and other track & field events, and was a fullback and punter for the Spartans football team. Coach played volleyball for Montour's very first boys volleyball team during his senior year and hasn't stopped playing since. He continues to play indoor league volleyball and sand volleyball year round. Coach attended the University of Pittsburgh and University of Colorado at Denver, where he played club rugby and 2 man grass volleyball.
Coach began his coaching career 20 years ago with the Pittsburgh Athletic Association's little league baseball program. Brad has coached both boys and girls volleyball in middle schools (Holy Cross & Sacred Heart), high schools (Aquinas Academy & Central Catholic) and travel clubs (Pittsburgh Elite & Courtside) for the past 10 years. Brad is always striving to be better, to learn more about the game, in order to develop young athletes, and to implement strategies for winning. He has trained with winning collegiate coaches (Russ Rose, Terry Liskeviych, John Dunning & Carll McGown) and with Olympic champion player/coaches, Coutrney Thompson, Scott Touzinsky & Pat Powers. Coach also runs clinics and camps for young athletes at the Boys and Girls Club of Western PA and gives private lessons on the indoor hard courts and sand volleyball courts of the City.
Coach lives in the City of Pittsburgh's North Side with his wife, 3 children and his dog, where he owns and operates a consulting firm in the oil and gas industry. Coach is also passionate about foods and beverages, has worked in the restaurant/bar industry off and on since high school, and has conducted cooking classes for budding chefs and foodies. Coach is in the midst of designing and building a coffeehouse, slated to open in the Observatory Hill neighborhood in the winter of 2023-24. Brad is an avid and lifelong skier and has been a member of the National Ski Patrol and Seven Springs Ski Patrol since the 2000 ski season.
Coach is passionate (read crazy) about the game of volleyball; he is looking forward to the end of his first "off season" in 20 years with no coaching duties, while he rehabs after his recent rotator cuff surgery; and he is totally stoked about getting back on the hard courts to help launch the 17U expansion team for Westmoreland Elite South in the upcoming club season!
